Hey, guys ....
I can't help it ... I LOVE this movie! Have lost count of the number of times I've seen it. Watched it again last night even though the channel it was on wasn't commercial-free.
Tim Curry is simply delicious, no one else could have been better. I never tire of watching him or listening to the wonderfully tongue-in-cheek songs and dialogue.
If I'm a bit down, it picks me right up. At a loss to know exactly why this is, but who cares, right?

A big part of my youth. During Junior/Senior year of high school, all us snotty uptown kids would go down to Greenwich Village to see the Rocky Horror Show at the world famous eighth street playhouse. Saw it at least 50 times at that theatre. I've tried to watch it on the television, but it's just not the same.
And speaking of transexuals. To Wong Foo, is on as I type this...
Cheap rip off of The Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert, now that Raven is a must see if you haven't already.

Everyone who has done so assures me that the big screen experience of Rocky Horror is completely different. A local theater has a midnight showing once or twice a year, I think. Someday (though I'm a bit long in the tooth for that sort of thing) I may have to check it out.
And To Wong Foo ... yes, I have seen it and love it. I have a copy. You and I talked about it on the BMB some time back, and agreed to disagree about the quality. You liked Priscilla, I thought To Wong Foo was better. The only thing we agreed on was that Wesley Snipes should definitely not do that type of role again.

The 8th street playhouse has run a Firday/Saturday Midnight show of Rocky Horror since the 70's, for awhile it was paired with another film "All Dressed in Rubber with No Place to Go", but I digress... They had incredible live performers who would do the show, so great, that Tim Curry, used the one who played his part, when he made his video for "Paradise Garage"
As for the To Wong Foo/Priscilla debate, the more I see To Wong Foo, the less I dislike it. It's a different movie to be sure. Priscilla was really about the bonding between the men, whereas Too Wong Foo, was more about thier impact on others. That being said, I know a lot of drag queens, and none of them stay in character/dress/makeup 24/7. You have to at least admit, that Priscilla had a kick butt soundtrack...

Yes, it did. And I don't dislike Priscilla, I enjoy watching it. Terence Stamp is my favorite in the movie.
As you say, the theme is similar but overall the two movies are quite different. Though funny, Priscilla has a more serious, real undertone. To Wong Foo is overdone almost to parody, but viewed in that regard has its moments. I know you don't care for Patrick Swayze, but am glad you dislike the movie less.

I can dig it, your Rev'ness. I think we may be identicals separated at birth. We have a lot of CRFWS company on this one. Every Saturday midnight in Berkeley it runs in a small art film theater. The same wacky, cannabis soaked, costumed people show up, chant the dialogue along with the soundtrack. Agree about Tim Curry. It's a little gem. No matter how many times i see it, i laugh out loud. Same with "The Big Lebowski." I love the sequence with the Puerto Rican character named "Jesus," [Tarturro] ragging on his league adversaries, the Dude, Goodman, Buscemi. He says, in PR accent, "You don't f*** with Jesus." LOL. Tarturro gets it just right.
